Welcome to our story.

Damitz Physical Therapy owner, Tyson Damitz, got a head start in PT early in life. His father, Chuck Damitz, has worked in physical therapy since 1975 when he was an orderly at St. Joseph Hospital. After working in the physical therapy department, he knew that he had found his forever career. He and his wife, Nila, moved to Chicago where he attended Northwestern University. Upon graduation and moving back to Kokomo, Chuck began practicing as a licensed physical therapist at St. Joseph Hospital in August 1979.

On August 8, 1988, Chuck partnered with Brad Smith to open Replay Physical Therapy in Kokomo. Replay was an outpatient clinic offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and work comp services. At its prime, Replay was the largest outpatient physical therapy clinic in the state and stood as the benchmark of quality care.

Tyson is the oldest of Chuck and Nila’s three Damitz boys, who all grew up in the Replay clinic. Tyson remembers visiting dad at work, playing on the machines, and practicing baseball in the clinic. Replay sponsored many athletic teams and Chuck coached youth baseball for over 25 years in Kokomo.

Since Tyson grew up watching his dad forge a path for physical therapy in the Kokomo community, it is no surprise that he followed and pursued the same career. After graduation from PT school he joined Chuck on the Replay staff, getting to work alongside his dad and finally contributing to the clinic that had become his second home. Their shared passion for people built many relationships, including the staff that had become family.

In 2007, Howard Regional (later Community Howard) acquired Replay. Chuck and Tyson continued to treat patients together at the clinic until Chuck announced retirement in 2012. He and Nila relocated to their home in Ft. Myers, Florida, where they still reside most of the year. Chuck continues to enjoy his passion of physical therapy by treating the neighbors within his community.

Tyson and Tiffany married in 2009 and settled in Howard County, which has always been home to them both. They added two boys to the Damitz tribe.

Tyson pursued other opportunities over the next eleven years, having opened and operated six total physical therapy clinics.

Tyson’s forever dream remained through each of the clinics he opened and managed: a dream of operating his own clinic, affording himself the autonomy to provide the quality of care that his patients deserve. He and Tiffany took the plunge into small business ownership and Damitz Physical Therapy was opened on August 8, 2023, exactly 35 years to the day after Chuck opened Replay.

“This venture was pursued out of love for people and is based on the relationships we value so much. Our hope is that every person feels like family as they enter our doors and will experience increased health and quality of life as they leave.”

Tyson and Tiffany reside in Greentown and are proudly raising two Eastern Comets who live for sports. When the four of them are not at the clinic, they can be found at a football, baseball, wrestling (meet), soccer, or basketball game.
